Opportunity to acquire culture and extra marks

As many of you will know, our own Emily D. will be performing this week in Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie. And next week — will the thrills never stop?!? — Drs. Bell, Goud, and I will appear, along with Tim Turnell, in Jean-Paul Sartre’s No Exit. Go and see both plays. That is the culture part.

Here is the marks part: mere attendance at the play will garner you 1 per cent added to your final grade for the course (2 plays = 2%). A short review of a paragraph or so, posted to your blog, will garner you an extra point, for a total of two per cent (two plays = 4 %).

It’s win-win.

  1. Just as an addendum to this notice: students may want to attend the Wednesday evening, March 14 performance of the Glass Menagerie specifically for a few reasons: 1) it is only $7 admission (whereas subsequent evening shows on March 15, 16, and 17 will be in the $20 to $30 range), and 2) there will be a question and answer session with the cast and the crew of the play afterwards. It will be your chance to ask about certain stylistic choices for the production.

  2. Thanks for the tip, Jay! And thanks, Dr. Jones, for the opportunity to scrounge up some extra percentage points and get out of the house for a spell, both at once!

  3. Thanks for letting us in on the Wednesday Night Performance….

  4. Thanks alot for the tips.
I am just wondering if we have to buy our tickets in advance or if we can pick them up at the door?

  5. Tickets can be purchased at the box office on Wednesday night by showing your student ID, however you may want to get there early to get a good seat, as the dress rehearsal is going to also have many high schools from the area in attendance as well.

  7. going to see no exit this evening!

to have an appropriately existential experience, I ought to come hungry, drenched with rain, and high on ketamine.

  8. I think your chances about the rain part are pretty good…

  9. Don’t be forgetting to look for someone constantly, even if you can’t remember their name.
